Desired player experience

We want the player to be curious and have the desire to try different approaches to the game.

Our goal is that the player feels excited about subsequent playthroughs and brainstorms possible plans of action to succeed where he previously failed.

What is essential for that experience?

A vast array of variables that the player can tinker with, all of them being meaningful enough to affect how the game goes.

Clear feedback and consequences for the choices made by the player.

How can my game capture that experience?

By providing player choices that affect the outcome of the run (such as character progression choices and how the player decides to navigate the dungeon).

By having clear feedback screens both at the end of each battle and on Game Over, detailing damage dealt, damage taken and healing done by each character.
